DIL Engineering GmbH is a member of the project steering committee for the IGF research project “Beta-GlucanProcess.”
DIL Engineering GmbH is a member of the project steering committee for the “Beta-GlucanProcess” research project, which is coordinated by the Research Association of the Food Industry (FEI) as part of the Joint Industrial Research (IGF) program. The project is being carried out by the DIL (German Institute of Food Technology) in collaboration with the Hamburg University of Technology. The goal is to develop a continuous process for biomass hot-water hydrolysis (Liquid Hot Water, LHW) to efficiently extract β-glucans—functional ingredients of growing importance for food and feed applications. Unlike previous batch-based methods, the goal is to establish a continuous process that enables better control, greater reproducibility, and more cost-effective implementation—particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises. A key focus is on scaling up the results from the laboratory to the industrial level. In addition, the effects of different types of biomass, pretreatments, and process parameters are systematically investigated to establish a sound understanding of the process. DIL Engineering GmbH draws on its expertise in mechanical and plant engineering to assess industrial feasibility at an early stage and support the transition to scalable solutions.
